Valerie Whitney started playing music as a punk-rock bassist, playing basement shows for small crowds around Long Island. Her most recent project is a drone-based band, Golden Clover. Golden Clover is based in the minimalist and drone traditions of Tony Conrad, John Cale, Pauline Oliveros, La Monte Young, and Marian Zazeela.
Valerie is committed to supporting communities of musicians by working in arts administration. She continues to perform in New York City with orchestras, contemporary ensembles, bluegrass bands, and occasional punk-rock shows. When she's not playing bass she enjoys baking tall cakes, snuggling cats, and discovering interesting new music in many genres.
